Benefits of Counseling

Counseling is meant to provide a safe and supportive environment to explore yourself and your concerns. Benefits of therapy can include increased self awareness and self knowledge, increased coping abilities and decreased unpleasant or painful symptoms.

My Approach to Counseling

I use an integrative approach to therapy that focuses on understanding, accepting, and changing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, in addition to attending to cultural and contextual factors. I use positive psychology to help you develop and use your strengths and increase your healthy coping strategies. I encourage using gentle and moderate exercises as methods for improving mood and generating feelings of empowerment. 

I also incorporate mindfulness based strategies to help you manage anxiety and stress, be more present and focused, and to cultivate greater self compassion.

Additionally, I believe in the importance of being genuine and authentic in relationships. I see our counseling relationship as a powerful vehicle for improving your relationship with yourself and relationships with others in your life.
